Porta Potties and hand wash stations for a BBQ

Port-a-potties + Hand-wash Stations = Success at Texas BBQ Cook-Offs!

Oh, the fun of attending BBQ cook-offs, throughout Texas!  Whether North, South, East or West, they are a part of what Texans know and love ? free-spirited competitions that generate succulent BBQ'd meats so tender, they slide off the bone!  BBQ competitions are considered a sport, by some, and many Texas locations have held these events, for decades.

Along with those festivities come some very practical measures to make sure neatness, cleanliness, and sanitation reign supreme ? enter Chem Can's port-a-potties and hand-wash stations!  We, at Chem Can, know a thing or two about helping outdoor events, of all kinds, unfold without a hitch.  It's our job (and our pleasure!) to supply port-a-potties at any type of gathering, along with hand-wash stations ? especially when meat juices become splattered, sauces become drippy, and contestants must remain near their assigned grilling stations.  Our port-a-potties and hand-wash stations ensure: 1) cleanliness is, always, at the forefront 2) convenience is always available and 3) contest rules and regulations are easily followed.

Interesting Facts

Did you know BBQ cook-out contest rules mandate that hand-washing stations ? with warm or hot water at, usually, a minimum of 100 degrees Fahrenheit ? be a part of a contestant's assigned cook area?  It stands to reason ? things can get contaminated, and hygiene is of prime importance.  From preparing wings, steaks, ribs, and briskets, the hands, arms, and faces of contestants can get plenty splattered and using, only, hand-sanitizers just doesn't cut it, nor is it an approved cleaning item, on its own.  Messes are expected, and many BBQ cook-out contestants make sure they have several pairs of socks and an extra pair of shoes, on hand, since spills and drips will have taken their toll by the end of the contest.

Some BBQ cook-out contest rules will not allow the use of bar soaps or cloth towels ? only paper towels.  The reason is simple:  wet bar soaps harbor infectious germs, and cloth towels are bacteria traps since they provide damp, warm environments for pathogens ? this, according to the US Department of Environmental Health.  When it comes to food being tested and tasted by judges, proper hygiene can't be overstated.

As a side-note:  At the Mesquite, Texas BBQ Cook-Off, contestants must have test strips on hand so site supervisors can verify the concentration of sanitizer solutions!  All the rules are strict, as they must be, and Chem Can wants to make your experience as stress-free, as possible!

We Have What You Need

Chem Can has what you need to meet the guidelines of BBQ contest venues.  If you are part of a BBQ cook-off planning committee and will be offering port-a-potties for the event, Chem Can offers basic port-a-potties as well as flushing models that offer increased sanitation benefits for contestants and visitors.

As a contestant, you might be interested in knowing that some BBQ contest venues do allow individual teams to utilize port-a-potties within their designated tent/pit area.  You and your team-members will, also, want to check out our portable, fresh-water hand-wash stations.  They are self-contained, fully stocked with liquid soap and paper towels.  Chem Can's hand-wash stations are, also, user-friendly with
complete forearm-washing capabilities and hands-free foot-pump operation.  Our hand-wash units are available in 2-station and 4-station configurations.

Contestants who wish to place a Chem Can port-a-potty and/or hand-wash station within their designated cook area need to become familiar with the rules and regulations of the respective county Health Department codes, to ensure full compliance.  At Chem Can, we are here to help!
